I'll have a chicken peck sandwich

Because my mom just got a hip surgery, Thanksgiving dinner duty fell upon Jenny and I. Even though I was constantly asking questions to my mom and grandma it is reassuring to know I can do it now.

It started on Tuesday night when Jake and I went to the store to get turkey breasts so they could start thawing in time for Thursday. We got into a long conversation about why we classify that part of the bird as breasts since there's no mammary gland there and how they should really be called pecks. Really though, just because birds have bigger pecks than humans doesn't mean we have to call them breasts. Some might even say it's insulting to the boy turkey's (Jake) and more effort should be put into correct anatomy.

Hee hee

We had turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet potatoes (thanks Amber!), parnsips (the smell of which brings sweet memories of Ireland), green beans, dressing (thanks to our charitable neighbors), cinnamon/sugar rolls and 4 kinds of pie (thanks to some other neighbors). It was so kind of them to bring us food. It's one of those times where I'm sure we would've survived if they hadn't but it made our lives a lot better.

Happy December festivities!

A little project I'm working on for USU
