Congratulate me boys...I'm engaged!

My post-roommate/sister-in-law Jenny and brother Jordan and I used to watch "A Hard Day's Night" quite often. Paul McCartney's grandfather's is a real mixer and disappears in the film and when they find him he's sitting next to a very lovely lady and proclaims, "Congratulate me boys, I'm engaged" in a proud, Irish accent. Well, fella's. I can now proclaim the same.

Here's the Irish grandfather sitting next to John who appears to be attempting to snort a bottle of Coca Cola. Classic.
Ok, so Jake and I started dating about 5 years ago. I know, shocking. We dated for a couple years and finally decided to get our butts in gear and go on missions...something we knew we needed to do for awhile, but took longer than it should've. Soooo, we left about the same time and Jake got back in October and things were the same...good. Real good. One day he said we need to have a talk. So after nearly wetting myself, he just said one word. Rings. So we went to Needham's. I didn't have a clue what I wanted since I never had looked before. I wanted a thinner band. So after a couple hours we both had an idea of what we liked and asked if we could combine our idea's into a fusion of prettyness and compromise. (Ok, it's late people. Gimme a break) Then, a couple weeks after that, Jake suggested we go to the temple after the session asked if I would marry him and showed me the ring, in all it's glory. Well, of course I said yes quickly and felt like a cheesy mcCheeserson with my wide grin I wore walking round the temple.
Here it is...

We just got back from Park City where we stayed at Jake's brother's cabin and went to the Canyons.

Jake has the same inability as me when it comes to looking nice for photos.

Here we are before going skiing. I was relentlessly teasing Jake for his Star Trek-like goggles.

Me, Jake, Luke, Natalie

Cool ice castles.

  2. Oh yeah and I remember watching A Hard Day's Night and Help with you. So fun. I love the pics of you and Jake, you are so alike. Star Trek is the bomb.com, he should have been making fun of you for not wearing Star Trek like glasses. Anyway, you are seriously so cool and I am soo happy for you and your eternity with Jake to begin! Oh and I adore the ring. It is very pretty yet unique and very Kara. Love it! Bye now. ttyl

  4. Congratulations Kara. That's exciting news. Jenny's also extremely excited for you as you can see. I'm happy for you. Oh, and tell Jake that we both said Star Trek is awesome. ;) It's nothing to be ashamed of. There are too many "closet" Star Trek lovers out there. I have fun proclaiming to the world that I'm a ST Geek.

  7. Aw Kara, there you go again - hiding behind a smokescreen of bourgois cliches... ( : Hooray for being engaged! You only get to introduce Jake as your "fiance" for a short time, so say the word all you can. Then you can call him your husband! Crazy to think old Jake - our friendly college neighbor - is going the fam! We're so glad. Love ya, sisterpal.
