Deciduouating

...is the name Jake and I made up for leaves-falling-off-trees-in-autumn. It's been another busy week with tests and projects due but I've been soaking in the beautiful fall more than ever. I've also had a Regina Spektor song playing in my head constantly where the chorus line says "leaves become most beautiful when their about to die...when they're about to fall from trees when they're about to dry....up." It seems like being busy helps me appreciate free times and when I came home and turned the corner onto my street it looked like this:

Welcome to my front door. Then, I went to the back room where my computer is to do homework and looked out the window to this:

I moved my dying ivy to the back where it could get small portions of full sunlight because that's what people say it needs.
Anyway, I think that Logan is out-showing the canyons this year because I'm pretty sure they didn't look this good...or maybe I just missed it.

HAPPY DECIDUOUSATION SEASON!

  1. That's one thing I really miss about living in Logan- the beautiful falls. Burley is VERY drab in that area. It actually becomes less beautiful in the fall bc the farmers get all the crops out of the ground leaving my view now as dirt and more dirt aannnnd more dirt.

  4. Um Kara, don't like take this the wrong way or anything, but you ain't seen nothing yet until you've seen Wisconsin in the fall! It's AWESOME here where there's always plenty (even too much!) rain. Plus, it seems like autumn just lasts and lasts here which I LOVE. Once, while we were having dinner with a family from Milwaukee one of the elders that was there said the blessing thanking God for "the moisture" and everyone teased him, saying that you could tell that he's from Utah since he said that. ( : I still do it too, though. But then again, I was thinking that Utah sure shows off it's colors better because you can see them all stacked up vertically on the hills and mountain sides - mixed with the beautiful pine trees in there too. Ah, I miss that. Beautiful photography, Kara. And I love the new word "deciduouataing". Verbing weirds language. ( :
