The end of a beautiful friendship. ...

A very long time ago, nevermind how long, I bought an iPod. My very first one. It was the very first video iPod, one of the first black models. I justified buying it because I needed a massive storage device for all my design files. At the time 30 GB seemed massive. When I bought it I believe I looked excitedly into it's shiny exterior and told it, "Louis, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship." And it was. It's uses were unimaginable. Car, computer, yardwork. Sometimes I swear it had a personality because it would play songs that were 100% fitting for that very moment in time.

Well folks, I'm sad to say that yesterday Louis died. I was driving in my car and right in the middle of a Sia song entitled "Numb" it stopped. I can get it to squirt out some tunes if I squeeze really hard at 2 pressure points. But, I think in the end, it's over. After some grieving time, I'll shelf it in the archives (because it's still readable on the computer) and perhaps get another one. But as for now, farewell dear friend.

In other news, a couple weeks ago I had to get my tint stripped off my car so I decided to walk down main street to pass the time. It was then I discovered the whereabouts of Horizons beauty school. So I ventured in, chatted with my old elementary school friend Shelby Riggs who works there and decided I needed a blonde highlight in my hair. Long live the season of weird hair!

And lastly, I've taken a new hobby of reupholstering dining chairs. I already told you about the ones I got from my teacher. Well, we needed some more so my grandmother let me have 4 of her chairs. The actual chairs from her first dining set. So cool. But, even though I adore the vinyl that originally arrays them, it's irreversibly dirty and has cracks. So I got some fabric and and staple gun and voila!

The right chair is the original vinyl, and the middle is the revamped version.
So, I guess we have an odd assortment now, but I feel like that's what makes them cool.

PS: even though there may be some bad luck, I highly recommend Sia.

  1. Wow way to go on the chair!! I think the blonde is cool. It is funny how quickly things get out dated - I have ZERO space left on my macbook, but when I bought it I thought I would never fill it up in a million years. I am avoiding telling you how much gig and all that it has, because I don't actually know. But Rhett said it used to be a lot and whatever he says I believe.
What other projects are you doing this summer? Any paintings for the house?

  3. Coooool. Oh Kara, I wish I lived closer to enjoy your cool factor in person. I like to think that your coolness rubbed off on me a little back in the good old roommate days when I could hang with you all the time. Hurray for my mid-June visit, eh?! Can't wait to see you and Jakey. Love you!
