How to entertain a guest from England...

Last month me companion Hannah Munzer came on holiday to silly ol' Utah. She was the guest of honor so I knew I needed to do all I could to show her a proper American experience.

So we went to Target and rode the shopping carts around because we didn't want to walk around to Payless and Famous Footwear.

I did make her walk up to the China wall up Logan Canyon though. Worth it!

Then, we went to Minnetonka cave. Our 16 year old clueless tour guide made our time there very memorable. When she told us the reason we couldn't touch any stalagmites or stalactites was because our skin oil would clog their pores, I suggested rubbing it with Clearasils micro-scrubbing formula. She said that it, unfortunately, would never work. Fine.

Then, we visited some friends

my sister and family...

Her dog whom I diligently trained to be a good dog...
And some fellow missionaries

Then, we ventured to the Great Salt Lake. Hannah couldn't believe that we (and every single person we asked) had never actually been in the Lake. Besides getting our flesh feasted on by biting gnats, it was great. To be fair, the sign DID warn us. The floating thing really weirded me out.

Floating on my stomach with rocks on my back in 2 feet of water. Crazy talk!

Then, for an ultimate Mormon experience, we hiked Ensign Peak.

Here we spotted a group of hippies

Temple Square

And, one of my favorite parts of our 2 weeks together...Katie and I grossing Hannah out with our wet straw-wrapper mustache's. Apparently in England, those sorts of mustache's are frowned upon. And in Hannah's world all wet straw-wrappers are grotty, mustache or not.
We loved having you visit!

  1. I will agree with her on the straw wrappers - wet or dry. You Singletons have some weird thing going on with straw wrappers. Why are you all so fascinated with them? Hannah was lovely and the kids were disappointed they did not get to spend more time with her. I love the picture of you floating in the Great Salt Lake. I may have to print myself an 8X10.

  2. I love the pic of you and tracker. Wish I could make that one a more permanent thing. Did I tell you he started chewing on our house? I like that one of Hannah on the China Wall too. Fun times! We all loved meeting Hannah!

  3. Sounds like an awesome visit, I'm sure she loved every minute. I actually heard some crazy news that sister missionaries are no longer required to wear nylons and their shirts can be knee-length! Crazy huh, I'd be super jealous but it was always freezing in Ireland so it was probably nice to have the layers.
